Teams AI Employees
Hire specialists, understand talent packs, and configure employee skills, playbooks, knowledge, tools, and coaching.
Best for
People assigning work to AI employees and reviewing their results
An AI employee combines a role with the capabilities and reference material needed to do the job. Its profile is where you understand what it owns, what it has learned, and what it may access.
Hire a specialist
Choose New → Hire an AI employee, or open the marketplace from Team. Read the role description, included skills, and playbook before hiring. Start with the smallest set of specialists your process needs.
Marketplace roles arrive as talent packs: a brief, capability packs, and a playbook. A pack can require a model of a particular capability tier. If a model choice is rejected, choose one that meets the role’s requirement; the fallback must meet it too.
Read the employee profile
Open an employee from Team. Overview summarizes the role, outcomes, metrics, lessons, and access. Manage contains the editable configuration. Message starts a conversation, while Edit with AI lets an authorized admin describe a change in words.
Skills, tools, and connections
Capability packs can provide web research, data analysis through the code sandbox, browser work, and calculation. Availability also depends on the installation and workspace plan. Grant the capabilities the employee’s tasks require.
Integration access is separate: an admin connects an external account and grants the employee the relevant tools. Hiring a role does not give it access to your email, CRM, or business systems by itself.
Playbooks and workspace knowledge
The brief defines how the employee should work. The playbook is its reference library: methods and procedures the employee can retrieve as needed. A talent pack can include an operating brief as well as searchable reference documents.
Workspace knowledge provides the facts about your organization. Use company, department, or employee scope to place material at the appropriate level, and attach the sources needed for the job. Check ingestion status before relying on an uploaded document. See Knowledge Sources for source types and retrieval behavior.
Reset to default restores the talent pack’s configuration. Review any custom guidance before using it.
Coach and review
Give specific feedback: name the error, explain the expected behavior, and point to the source or example. Review the employee’s lessons and metrics over time. Use acceptance and change-request feedback on real tasks to judge whether its work meets the brief.
Admins can configure models, skills, tools, coaching, and reporting lines. Members can collaborate with employees and hire marketplace specialists. Workspace roles explain the administrative boundary.
Teams and Console
A Teams employee is backed by a PromptRails agent. Engineers can inspect the same workspace’s agents, versions, and executions in Console. Coordinate changes to a shared employee: changing its runtime configuration can affect the work assigned in Teams.
